Gypsy ready to settle down in a forever home.
Gypsy is a 5 year old German Shephard chow mix, approximately 45 lbs. Gypsy earned her name by making it on her own in the country after no longer having a home. Gypsy is smart — she scavenged for food, regularly would interact with folks to a get a meal, set up residence under an abandoned church building, and slowly learned to trust again. After 5 months, she was willing to trust enough so that she would go to a safe place.

During her time in foster care, she has blossomed! Gypsy has learned to trust and wants to interact with her foster family and others.

Gypsy would be great family dog for a single person, couple, or family with older children. She gets along with others dogs, small and large, male and female, and interacts nicely with cats. We are suggesting older children because she can be shy, but typically will willingly go up to people to be petted.

Gypsy is heartworm positive, but is going through treatment and should be finished with treatment at the end of April.

Gypsy is very relaxed on a leash and will walk at your side without pulling or trying to lead. She is wonderful in the car — she sits quietly on the front passenger floorboard. She enjoys trips to parks, restaurants, PetSmart, and even the local vet’s office!

Gypsy does need to go into home that has secure yard and will keep her inside/kenneled while not home. She is smart and will attempt to dig under a fence and/or open gates to leave home and explore the great outdoors. Gypsy easily fits into your routine, is biddable, and knows sit, down (with coaxing), come, and she is housebroken. She is not super hyper and likes to play with other dogs, but will also lay quietly while her person works in the yard or sits and talks with other people.
